Look for These Naturally Effective Skin Whitening and Anti-Aging Ingredients in Beauty Products

So I was surfing through the web the other day and found a snippet about cosmetics and skin whitening products. The short article mentioned the widespread use all over Europe during the Renaissance era of whitening make-up (Venetian Ceruse) that contained lead. In fact, Queen Elizabeth the First of England was the most famous consumer of lead-based cosmetics that kept her skin look pale, which was commonly perceived as a symbol of wealth, privilege, and youthful vigor during that time. Sadly, centuries passed before the people realized during the 17th century that it was lead that caused the increased incidence of psychological and nerve-related diseases among the middle-class nouveau-riche and the members of the nobility. Managing Stretch Marks During Pregnancy

Image via Wikipedia Stretch marks are often seen during pregnancy because of the rapid stretching of the skin to accommodate the growing fetus inside. The skin can not produce enough collagen to cope with the rapid growth. This causes tearing in the skin where the collagen in the skin separates. Aside from pregnancy, other cases where stretch marks may appear include rapid weight gain and the enlargement of breasts before one's menstrual period or after breast enlargement surgery. Based on some articles on stretch marks, scientists and doctors generally believe it is a genetic predisposition. This means that women who often develop prominent stretch marks on their stomach, thighs, buttocks, and breasts have mothers who surely have them, too. Most of these marks fade over time, but they do not completely disappear. A lot of women and a few men swear by many cures and preventions. Some of these cures are homemade, while others can be easily bought over-the-counter from the pharm...

New Resolution: Go Natural!

Everything these days is geared towards instant results, instant remedies and instant gratification. People don't have patience anymore to spend time and wait things out. You may be asking what my point is. Well, when it come to risking our futures trading in organic and natural solutiuons for fast synthetic remedies, I am very concerned. I was thinking of how often I use toners and astringents on my face and still I get all these breakouts. It hasn't blown to full on acne yet. I don't think it will, but I'm concerned that using these facial cleansers too often may not be the answer. And I haven't started on facial scrubs yet. So now I have decided, Screw facial products. I'm going natural for a while. Clean my face with a mild soap (Ivory) and warm water. Pat it gently instead of rubbing it. Apply moisturizer more often, and use makeup less frequently. Also I must sleep more often and drink water more. Water and sleep helps in cellular growth and can improve o...

Winter Skin Care Tips

Image via Wikipedia It's that season once again when leaves fall and the air is chillier than usual. A drop in temperature can be hurtful to your skin's hydration. When autumn comes and later winter, keep your skin moisturized and protected from the changes in the weather. Here are some winter skin care tips that even your snowmobile parts crazy hubby can make use of: * Apply a simple hydrotherapy technique using hot and cold showers. Start with a hot shower, and then before getting out switch to a cold shower for about fifteen seconds. After that turn up the heat a bit, and then down again. Repeat the alternate switching of hot and cold showers for about two minutes. This stimulates the blood flow throughout the body. It revitalizes the skin and invigorates the muscles. * Moisturize! Block the sun! Use a highly protective day cream with zinc oxide and has at least SPF 15 (ideally SPF 30) to protect your skin from the harsh elements of cold weather. Creamier, water-in-oil em...

Organic Skin Care Information at Saffron Rouge

I was out shopping yesterday for my monthly supply of bathroom and skin care products. As much as possible I'd like to buy natural beauty products. So I kept checking out the list of ingredients on the label at the back of each product I pick regardless of the brand name. Some I can barely read because of the fine print and the number of ingredients listed. I had the impression that herbal ingredients such as witch hazel and rosemary makes a difference. I have also read that denatured alcohol and salicylic acid are de rigeur for some products. They keep the acne out and cleans the skin of bacterial residue. Though the skin may not be completely cleansed, it is safe to assume that besides having minimized pores and smoother skin texture one can avoid developing acne infections if these products were used with regularity. I was particularly concerned with the ingredients in the organic skin care product I use as toner. I was able to find a good toner with the prerequisite herbal ingr...
