Some Bad Beauty Habits Are Hard To Break

Image via Wikipedia I found this fascinating blog post today by Aybi. In it the author listed beauty habits some of us may not be aware to be bad for our skin and hair. One of those is my hair and beauty sin: 1. Excessive hair washing - Washing our hair everyday may make you feel clean. In reality, though, It strips your hair and scalp their natural moisturizing oils. leaving you with damaged brittle hair. Prevent this by shampooing your hair every other day for a healthier, silkier mane. Apply conditioner after rinsing. Use those that contain little or no alcohol at all. Or massage your scalp with drops of jojoba oil . Aybi, Information on Health Blog , Aug 2008 I wash my hair everyday using an anti-dandruff shampoo with a conditioner. Although I am worried I might be hurting my hair more than helping, I just can't ignore the urge to wash it each day. My scalp feels itchy at the end of the day after being exposed to smog, heat and sweat. Aside from the shampoo, I also follow it

A shrink for your skin?

Ever heard of a psychodermatologist? Apparently this type of doctor exists to help your skin through various methods of therapy. Psychodermatology is therapy for the skin and consists of different methods. Psychotherapy is the most common treatment, but meditation, hypnosis, biofeedback, and an assortment of relaxation are also standard treatments ( District Chronicles, 2007 ). Creams and lotions may ease the discomfort of skin problems, but through psychodermatology the real cause of the problem can be identified and healed. The field focuses on the mind-body connection, shifting between dermatology and psychiatry, and uses alternative methods such as relaxation, biofeedback, self-hypnosis or psychotherapy. According to a quote from Dr. Ted Grossbart, an assistant clinical professor of psychology at Harvard Medical School and author of Skin Deep: A New Mind/Body Program for Healthy Skin by MSNBC.com : “An estimated 30 to 60 percent of people who come to a doctor for help with skin pr

Good Sex for Clear Skin

Well another weekend in another week. My boyfriend, whom I last spent some time with a month ago waxing poetic about an HDMI switch , a Plasma TV and digital cam, is now free to visit me, but the guy is unwilling to budge from his newest "loves". Oh well... To entertain myself sans boyfriend I again walked about town drinking in the newest sights at the mall. New stores, new stuff to try. Well my lover is not the only gadget freak. A row of cellphones caught my attention. These are well-known brands of mobile phones. However, their models have been discontinued from being manufactured. Call me desperate or maybe wily but to lure my lover from his den I bought him a new cellphone. A new toy to play with, so to speak. You are probably wondering why I need to do this in the first place. Well there's this matter of having a "rosy glowing skin" due to regular sexual activity. Yes, it seems sex is good for your skin. When women have sex they produce great amounts of e

PaGwapa Organic Beauty Products Now in Iloilo!

I have just discovered PaGwapa Beauty Shop at the 2nd Floor of Robinson's Iloilo. The shop sells all natural skin care products . They have soaps made from papaya, orange, bearberry, and calamansi. They have whitening soaps and lotions, sun protection lotions with SPF 45 and up, and even anti aging soaps and lotions. Everything is made from organic ingredients. The sales personnel assured me the company manufactures everything in-house at Manila and they only use all natural ingredients. They did not use animals for testing. What's more everything is hypo-allergenic. What is also great is the low, low price their products have. I bought my Miracle Soap anti aging and whitening soap for only 55 pesos (only $1.25)! The lady at the shop advised me that lightening results can be achieved after only 3 days of continued use and thereafter whitening results will be visible. As long as I continue using the product of course. I don't really mind because of the affordable price. Asid

Is Colon Cleansing Good For You?

It's interesting what kinds of offers you get in your inbox. Just now I have received an email with a link to a supposedly good way of detoxifying your system. It's called a colon cleanse . I wondered then what health benefits it will give me if I ask my doctor for a cleansing once in a while. How different is it from enema? After some research on colon cleansing and enema, I found this article from About.com very helpful: Colonics and enemas are both therapies that cleanse the colon by introducing water through the rectum. The key differences are that a colon cleanse cleans the entire length of the colon while an enema only cleanses the lower part of the colon, and that a colon cleanse requires multiple infusions of water while an enema involves only one infusion of water. For more information on getting a colonic you can refer to this article . Why do people undergo a colon cleanse? The following are a few of the reasons: To remove accumulated waste from the colon To help pr

Wanna Flirt?

Wow! Was that F-U-N! I'm so into online games right now and I just came out of playing the Victory Hair Ultimate Flirting Championship all mussed up and hawt! Woot! Victory Hair? What's Victory Hair you ask? Victory Hair is when you have that look that says "I've just been naughty! Wink! Wink!" Freaky hair. All mussed up. Sexeh. Play the Victory Hair Ultimate Flirting Championship ! The game is really fun. You play The Flirting Championship with two other players. First try I was the judge and I got to ask the questions. Two guys were answering and I got to choose which answer was better. I usually achieve the same effect on guys when I chat or just plain look at them. Some have told me my eyes are my best asset. They're sexy and flirty. A few have told me my smile comes second, bright and come-hither-y. Here's a sample. What do you think? Now I really want to buy Extreme Style by VO5 . I spend more money on hair products than on skin care products latel

a new addiction

Well folks! I have just spent the night playing Wonderland. This MMORPG game is very addictive. I know I'm going out of the topic here but... the reason I wasn't able to post much here is because of Wonderland addiction. Hehe... I should control this escapist tendency.

I wanna dance

Lately I've been thinking of going to the gym and working out. However, moving my body in repetitive movements does not appeal to me. So I have this idea of signing up for a dance class which I feel can be considered as an exercise as well. Besides toning my muscles and getting rid of the excess fat on my belly I'd also enjoy the sessions. Simply put I love to dance! I used to dance in high school. My body was limber back then and slimmer. Would you believe me if I told you my waist was just a tiny 22? Now it's stuck at 28. Sheesh! If my belly fat don't decrease in size I'd really try those diet pills I've been reading about. And since I am a big proponent of organic products, I would definitely go for the best diet pills in this category. And being inexpensive doesn't necessarily mean those pills are the best! Yes, you may have to splurge a little, but when you want to use the best and the safest, then it's a good investment to make. Not only that, I h
