Observing Cleanliness At Home, At School And At Work

This coming July I might be in another networking event sponsored by PAGCOR Bacolod. This is a bloggers event. It's free. I think all I'm ever going to spend will be for my ferry fare and an overnight stay in Bacolod. That won't go over 2,000 pesos. House Warming Sunday

Last Sunday I had the opportunity to attend a housewarming party. The party is held at a beautiful home located in a quiet neighborhood far from the bustling noisy highway. It's made of high quality glass tile, cement, hardwood, and natural stone. It's an old home, actually, newly refurbished after the disastrous Typhoon Frank that destroyed a large part of Iloilo.

There was a jovial atmosphere in that home where family and friends gathered together, not only to celebrate a house blessing, but also the baptism of the newest addition to the family, a healthy baby boy.

As baby announcements go, my sister's is the most calm. We were in the mall that time when she suddenly grabbed my hand and asked me to go with her to buy food at one of the food court stalls. I wasn't aware that anything's bothering her until she revealed to me she's pregnant again.

Rainy Days Are Here Again!

It's the merry rainy month of June once again. Schools and universities are busy with their first week of classes for the school year. Tiangges and bookstores are also in full blast with their Back-To-School sales. Notebook memory cards, mechanical pencil leads, mini flash drives, and flashy iPods... Times are achanging. Kids these days prefer using gadgets and gizmos rather than a simple pen and some paper.

In fact, my own nephew is an example of the newest generation. PSPs, Game Boys, xBox, cellphones, iPods, laptops... Kids are too busy with their hi-tech toys they seem to have forgotten how it feels to play outside under the sun or in the rain.

I remember when we used to play in the rain. I still love doing that, but I don't do it as often these days. I feel nostalgic, sometimes, when it rains.

Showbiz News Bad and Good

I was stuck watching the latest showbiz scandal and celebrity news over the weekend because my mom was hogging the TV. She has been tracking the updates on the latest Hayden Kho-Katrina Halili scandal which is on everyone's lips these past few weeks. Publicity-hungry politicians and showbiz personalities have been muddying the waters to get into the limelight caused by the scandal. The chaos is more annoying than anything else that showbiz and politics have dreamed up.

On a more positive note, it's a relief to know Richard Gutierrez is now recovering well after his car accident which killed his long-time personal assistant. I'm sure he had car insurance, but I don't think he had his face insured. It would be a tragedy if something happened to disfigure him in some way. Coincidentally, he is one of the celebrity endorsers of the Belo Medical Group, the top cosmetic surgery and beauty enhancement partnership in the Philippines. Dr Hayden Kho is one of the partners of the said company. His present girlfriend is Dr Vicky Belo herself, the foundress of the Belo Medical Group.

I think Richard deserve a nice vacation somewhere in El Nido or something. He currently has a TV soap showing, but they can find a way to give him some break. Claudine did it with Marina, why not Richard?

Use Sunblock For Summer

Summer is here once again and it's been very hot here in the tropics. Sales of hammocks, whicker seats, garden benches, and other outdoor furniture is in full swing. And, if you plan on sunbathing, you can choose a sturdy lounge chair that you can lie on while tanning.

Be careful, though, not to expose your skin too long to the sun's harmful UV rays. Apply sunblock lotion liberally on the exposed parts of your skin. Sunblock can prevent too much absorption of harmful UV rays while still allowing your skin to produce melanin, the hormone that results to darkening of the skin as a response to solar exposure.

Even if your sunblock lotion has an SPF of 75, it won't stop your skin from tanning. It will only prevent sunburn, and regulate the amount of UV rays being absorbed by the skin.

Cleansing Your Body Inside and Out

I used to suffer from parasitic worms when I was a child. In our place, small children often play barefooted on grassy meadows.
