Do you need a quick weight loss plan? How about trying these types of food and beverages for starters? They might not look too healthy for some people, but research has shown they contribute to weight loss by either burning fat or suppressing one's appetite.

1. Iced Coffee

Rejoice coffee lovers everywhere! Your favorite beverage earns a place in the list of weight loss foods. A study published in the journal Physiology & Behavior found that the average metabolic rate of people who drink caffeinated coffee is 16 percent higher than that of those who drink decaf.

Coffee is known to suppress appetite and it is rich in antioxidants that help in keeping cells healthy. Drinking 8 ounces or less of this caffeine-rich beverage can help keep the mind alert and focused longer.

2. Apple

The wisdom of the old turns out to be true. An apple a day does keep us healthy and wise. Apples are rich in fiber, which fills up our bellies sooner than meat. It also requires a lot of chewing, which fools our brains into thinking we ate more than we did. Aside from that, an apple only costs you 128 calories to process.

3. Milk

Drink your milk every morning, mother used to say. She was right! Milk helps keep us energized and feeling fuller throughout the morning than fruit juice. It is filled with proteins that the the body needs. While both the milk and the juice have the same amount of calories, milk has protein and less sugar than juices.

4. Bananas

If monkeys see and do what they see you do, why not do the reverse? Do what the monkeys do! Eat bananas! Bananas are full of vitamins and minerals, specifically potassium, and has enough fiber to keep you filled with energy and help your body process food.

5. Eggs

Eggs may seem an unlikely candidate for a weight loss food, but the amount of much-needed protein in eggs is enough to supply your body the energy throughout the day. Indiana University scientists determined that dieters who consumed their biggest dose of daily protein at breakfast felt full longer than those who ate more of the nutrient at lunch or dinner.

Aside from these five foods and beverages, beans, salmon, cheese, and even grapefruit and watermelon, can also help you lose the baggage. Essentially, these foods have the necessary elements - fiber and protein - that the body needs to function. As long as the body has what it needs, it will not produce cravings in you for more food.

You have many options to choose from, but there is no one food type that can make you lose weight substantially. Having good health is a proactive condition. When we get sick, we often find that our own lifestyle and food choices have contributed to our condition. So before you check your life insurance quote and reach for your savings account passbook, better check back on what you have been doing to your body and stop the abuse. Doing so will not only keep you healthy, it will cut back on medical expenses and you don't have to spend so much on life and health insurance payments. Trust me, you will surely live longer.

Skin Care Benefits of Using Sulfur Soap

A sample of sulfur (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Despite its acrid smell, a bar of sulfur soap brings many health benefits to your skin through its antiseptic, anti-fungal and antibacterial qualities. In olden times, individuals had to take a dip in sulfur-rich hot springs located at a distance from an active volcano. Spas often appeared around these areas to provide patrons privacy and comfort while they visited the pools of heated water and sulfur. Many people frequented these places because the hot water therapy soothed their aching muscles and the sulfur healed their skin problems, such as acne vulgaris, whiteheads, blackheads, eczema, rosacea, scabies, and seborrheic dermatitis. Now, sulfur's cleansing properties are packaged neatly in soap bars. The ten percent sulfur content in the soap has enough potency to effectively produce the same effective results as dipping your whole body in a pool of sulfur-rich hot water. Like in the ancient times, use sulfur soaps to reme

How Do You Treat Scalp Acne and Scalp Dermatitis?

A case of Seborrhoeic Dermatitis on the back of the head (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) If you suffer from pimples on the scalp, then it's important to find a good scalp acne treatment. They're ugly, painful, and irritating. We can't see them ourselves so we pick them often by scratching our scalp before knowing they're there. Scalp wounds tend to bleed and this can make the spots visible, especially if your hair is thinning, fine or very short. Most acne on the scalp has the same cause as acne on the face, that is, overproduction of sebum leading to blockages of hair follicles, which often become infected. Inflammation can be caused by a condition called seborrheic dermatitis , and this, together with oily skin, is what you have to go along with scalp acne. What happens is the scalp will be red and itchy and the skin will flake off as dandruff. Associated with the condition of seborrheic dermatitis and more serious cases is yeast and it's someti

A brief vacation

I have just got back from UP Diliman for a week of respite. I had training for trainers at UP SoLaIR (School of Labor and Industrial Relations). It was a working vacation. At least I had time to slow down and not think of work for a few days. It was good! Really felt good to be taken cared of by the University Hotel staff.
