Some people ignorantly refer to a certain kind of cancer as "mesothalamia." However, for those who took the time to research and read about it, "mesothalamia" is correctly referred to as "mesothelioma." Mesothelioma is actually a type of cancer that is almost always caused by exposure to asbestos. This disease attacks the cells in the mesothelium, a protective lining that covers most of the body's internal organs.

I am discussing mesothelioma because I am currently being reminded by the ephemeral quality of life on earth. This Holy Week's stories on TV reflect on the quality of spiritual life we all have led. Most of the people we encounter exulting the importance and value of living in the Lord are those that are given second chances, or those that are currently suffering from cancer.

During these times, whenever I listen to these men and women about the challenges and pain they have experienced, I feel encouraged that God is always there with us. We don't often feel that Presence for various reasons, but its effect is often seen in the victories people achieve against the odds.

A brief vacation

I have just got back from UP Diliman for a week of respite. I had training for trainers at UP SoLaIR (School of Labor and Industrial Relations). It was a working vacation. At least I had time to slow down and not think of work for a few days. It was good! Really felt good to be taken cared of by the University Hotel staff.
