Using Bluetooth Technology With A Cordless Barcode Scanner

When I first learned of the cordless barcode scanner, I wondered how the device connects with the base station and how far it can function away from the base station. I know all about Bluetooth technology, which is common now with computers and mobile phones. Bluetooth operates within a ten-meter radius. If the base station is out of bounds, then the wireless barcode scanner will not be able to send information to the computer.

To use a wireless bar code scanner far away from the base station, employees should bring a PocketPC along with the scanner. The device can read bar code information, send it to the PocketPC, which sends the info to the base station. Employees can use the cordless barcode scanner in a warehouse or outside of the building.
