Warning Against Asbestos Exposure

Structures containing asbestos are markedImage via WikipediaIn the 50s until the 70s, asbestos was a common material used in construction as well as in industrial work. Workers who were directly exposed to asbestos at work as well as ordinary people who were unaware of exposure to asbestos in their homes developed symptoms of Mesothelioma, which is a for of cancer that has a strong correlation with asbestos exposure.

As a result, Mesothelioma lawsuits increased, which led to increased public awareness of health risks from asbestos exposure. This discovery also led to the banning of the use of asbestos in consumer products and regulated use of asbestos in industrial application.

However, not every product, home or office building were destroyed or renovated since then. There are still old structures that exist and being used that remain hazardous sources for asbestos exposure. This is why there are still Mesothelioma lawsuits out there that keep lawyers busy.

When structures are found with asbestos, authorities immediately take action by sending a special team to remove asbestos and marking the place so people will keep away from it while asbestos is being removed.

A good example of this process is shown during an Extreme Makeover: Home Edition episode where a team of men in white Hazmats and gas masks went in and removed the asbestos carefully. Asbestos in powder form is more dangerous because they could be borne by air and enter the body easily. They are as small as dust particles, and sometimes, they are almost microscopic in size.
